Stop the deportation of Luis Martinez!
Luis Martinez, a critical member of the Hudson Valley community, was detained by ICE on January 16th on his way to work.
Luis has lived in New Paltz since he was eight years old. He attended high school here. He started two businesses that employed over 120 people. He constantly contributed to the community, making significant donations to St. Joseph’s church, Phillies Bridge Farm Project, among many others. He built a family here, raising three children with his wife.
Like so many undocumented immigrants, Luis has tried over and over again to “lawfully” gain citizenship. Three years ago, he started an application for a U visa — granted to victims of certain crimes who cooperate with police. After witnessing the murder of his brother in Newburgh, Luis played a key role in the investigation. His pending U visa did not stop ICE agents from detaining him without so much as a warrant.
Sign our petition and help us stop the deportation of Luis so that he can be reunited with his family and community!
